CASE STUDY · 2026
A hybrid React and WordPress experience, taking features from initial brief and prototype through development, testing, and production.
THE BRIEF
Funded Trading Plus needed a modern frontend experience across its marketing and conversion journeys, while continuing to use WordPress for content and WooCommerce for checkout.
My role covered the process from translating briefs into interface concepts and prototypes through to frontend development, WordPress implementation, testing, and production releases.
The challenge was to introduce React where it added value while keeping the existing WordPress ecosystem stable and manageable.
THE APPROACH
I worked across the full feature lifecycle, starting by translating product and development briefs into Figma prototypes and reusable design components. Prototypes were submitted for review and approval before development, helping establish the intended experience and reduce ambiguity before implementation.
Once approved, I developed the interfaces using React and WordPress, creating reusable React components and custom Gutenberg blocks to maintain consistency across the site.
Before features were pushed to production, I wrote Playwright tests covering key user journeys and edge cases. This provided an additional layer of confidence that new features worked as expected across different scenarios and helped catch regressions before release.
This approach ensured a balance between innovation and stability, allowing the project to evolve without compromising the existing WordPress infrastructure.

THE OUTCOME
By integrating React into the existing WordPress ecosystem and establishing a clear development workflow, React provided flexibility for interactive, conversion-focused experiences, while WordPress continued to handle content and commerce requirements.
Designs were reviewed and approved before development, ensuring alignment with the intended user experience.
Components and sections were designed for reuse, ensuring consistency and efficiency in future development.
Features and components were thoroughly tested with Playwright to catch regressions and ensure reliability before production release.
